Install and first launch

Resibook is a Windows app. It runs on Windows 10 (version 1809 or later, 64-bit) and Windows 11. Your books are a file on your own computer, and Resibook works without an internet connection.

Get it from the Microsoft Store

  1. Open the Microsoft Store app on your computer and search for Resibook.
  2. Choose Get (or Install).
  3. When it's done, open Resibook from the Start menu.

You see the Resibook logo and the question How would you like to start?

Set up your first book

Setup asks four things. Each can be changed later in Settings, except the business type, which decides your starting accounts.

  1. Choose Start a new book, then Continue. (If you have a backup from another computer, choose Restore my books from a copy instead. See Back up and protect your books.)
  2. Under What kind of business is this?, pick the card closest to yours: Solo freelancer / service business, Small retail or Contractor.
  3. Under Bookkeeping method, keep the choice that's ticked unless you know you want the other one. Cash counts income when it's paid. Accrual counts income when you invoice.
  4. Type your business's name under What's it called?, then choose Continue.
  5. Under What's your base currency?, pick your currency (for example USD), then choose Continue.
  6. Under Pick a look for your workspace, pick one of the four looks. You can switch any time in Settings.
  7. Choose Finish setup.

You see the Dashboard. Your book is ready, with a starting set of accounts for the kind of business you chose. Next, bring in your bank statement.

The 14-day trial

Every feature is open for 14 days from the first time you open Resibook. In the last three days a banner says how many days are left. After the trial your books stay open read-only until you enter a licence. You can still view, export and back them up. See Your licence.

Where your books are kept

The Microsoft Store copy of Resibook keeps your books in a folder called Resibook in your user folder, for example C:\Users\Kit\Resibook. Your first book is the file resibook.db in that folder. If you lock it with a password, a key file resibook.db.keys sits beside it.

Uninstalling Resibook never deletes this folder or anything in it. If you install Resibook again, it opens the same books.

Your books are only on this computer. To keep a copy somewhere else, use Back up now. See Back up and protect your books.
